Dasa Sandhi

Dasa Sandhi is the transitional junction period in Vedic astrology when one major planetary period (Mahadasha) ends and the next one begins.

What is Dasa Sandhi?

  • The Meaning: The word Sandhi means a junction, bridge, or seam.
  • The Process: It works like a “gear shift” where the fading energy of the outgoing planet slowly mixes with and hands over control to the incoming planet.
  • Duration: Depending on the lengths of the specific planetary cycles, this overlapping transition can last anywhere from a few months to a couple of years.

Common Effects

  • Shifts in Life: People often experience changes in mindset, career direction, or health as their life priorities re-align.
  • Uncertainty: The transition can feel unstable or stressful because the old safety net fades before the new planetary benefits are fully active.
  • Caution: Astrologers often advise against starting major life commitments—like a new business or marriage—right in the middle of a rough Dasa Sandhi.

So if the dasa of BUDHA IS STARTING AND YOUR KETU ANTAR DASA IS STARTING THEN IT IS SAID THAT:

Last phase of the concerned dasa and the initial phase of the antar dasa will create SANDHI

Understanding Dasa Sandhi in Joint Analysis

  • Dasa Sandhi refers to the final months or twilight phase of one Mahadasa entering another. Planets ruling the end of a cycle and the beginning of the next can create extreme instability if they act as functional malefics or occupylst / 7th / 8th dusthana houses.
  • In relationship astrology (Synastry) and tragic historical events, astrologers look at how overlapping dasa sandhis heighten crisis points, legal, marital, or mortal vulnerability.
