Let us take an example and understand this concept:

Sun in this chart is placed in Gemini in 20 degrees 02 Minutes and 38 seconds

Moon in this chart is placed in Gemini in 01 degrees 28 minutes and 38 seconds

Lets convert this to absolute degrees

60 is equal to 1 minute hence 60+20=80 degrees 02 minutes

60 equal to 1 minute hence 60+01=61 degrees 28 minutes

When we apply the formula we get 80.02+61.28+93.20=234 degrees 50 minutes

In the 27 nakshatras scheme 234 degrees falls in VRISCHIKA as 210 falls in Libra and 240 falls in Saggitarius hence 234 is the mid point between these two rasis.

Deducting 234-210 we get 24 degree and this falls under the star of Jyesta as the degree associated is 16 degrees 40 minutes till 30 degrees minutes
